It has been a little less than 2 weeks since my first day at my placement. I have finally found some time in all this chaos to share some of my feelings with you, my reader! This has been a year of 7's,not only was this my favourite number as a child, truthfully it has been the number i wore on various sports teams. This year not only am I in group 7, but my placement is with a wonderful grade 7 class!!! Honestly, leading up to my first day I was quite nervous, which of course is understandable given I had no clue where the school was or who my associate teacher was. All those worries were dashed within 10 minutes of being at my school. My peers and I were shown to the library where we were welcomed by the staff and vice principal. After our small meeting and introductions, our associate teachers then led us to our classrooms. This gave us a chance to get to know our associate teachers a little better before the school day officially started!
When I first heard that I was going to be placed in a grade 7 class, I was a little hesitant and unsure of what to expect. Those fears were soon settled when the class filed in after the bell..or buzzer. The time in the class went by quickly, the numerous buzzers/bells did confuse me at first-(i have now grown accustomed to them..and i understand what they are for....yay...which is great!!!), but my associate teacher was WONDERFUL !!!! He was quick to share experiences and offered some wonderful advice!!! These experiences for the past two weeks have given me hope for what is to come. The more time I spend at my placement, the more I realize something our counsellors have been reminding us since the beginning of September.....you are no longer students, but TEACHERS!!!...This is quite overwhelming for me..since it is something I have aspired to for so long!!!
God Bless...
