Mini-Micro Teaching DAY!!!!

Like pretty much everyone, I have to say I was quite nervous leading up to today. This was not due to the fact that I was unsure about presenting in front of my peers, but rather that a camera was going to tape my every move and I wasn't quite sure what to actually teach. Thanks to my nephew, I did finally get an idea!! Last year when my nephew was in grade two, he had an origami presentation from which he received a little pamphlet which outlined some origami projects. I remember as soon as he came home he came over and wanted to make everything in the book, and my origami bat was one of them. It just turned out to be his favourite project of them all!! Now all that was left was the actual presentation!!

When it was finally was my turn, right out of the gate i threw in a "you guys" before taping even began and I felt my ears flush red!!! Other than that little mistake I felt the presentation went well, I did learn that I need to be clear and concise with my directions, stopping to make sure everyone understands a previous step before everyone moves on. Hopefully everyone can use my bat in their own classrooms one day, I know that I certainly will!!! I also have to say that I really enjoyed everyones presentation, it was a nice break from the regular schedule we have now all grown accustomed to!! After actually watching my video, I can honestly say that I have learned to laugh at myself....and believe me it wasn't easy watching that!!!

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE WITH THEIR MICRO-TEACHING !!!!

God bless!!

A year of 7's

It has been a little less than 2 weeks since my first day at my placement. I have finally found some time in all this chaos to share some of my feelings with you, my reader! This has been a year of 7's,not only was this my favourite number as a child, truthfully it has been the number i wore on various sports teams. This year not only am I in group 7, but my placement is with a wonderful grade 7 class!!! Honestly, leading up to my first day I was quite nervous, which of course is understandable given I had no clue where the school was or who my associate teacher was. All those worries were dashed within 10 minutes of being at my school. My peers and I were shown to the library where we were welcomed by the staff and vice principal. After our small meeting and introductions, our associate teachers then led us to our classrooms. This gave us a chance to get to know our associate teachers a little better before the school day officially started!

When I first heard that I was going to be placed in a grade 7 class, I was a little hesitant and unsure of what to expect. Those fears were soon settled when the class filed in after the bell..or buzzer. The time in the class went by quickly, the numerous buzzers/bells did confuse me at first-(i have now grown accustomed to them..and i understand what they are for....yay...which is great!!!), but my associate teacher was WONDERFUL !!!! He was quick to share experiences and offered some wonderful advice!!! These experiences for the past two weeks have given me hope for what is to come. The more time I spend at my placement, the more I realize something our counsellors have been reminding us since the beginning of September.....you are no longer students, but TEACHERS!!!...This is quite overwhelming for me..since it is something I have aspired to for so long!!!

God Bless...
